Our Wedding

Tina and James’ story began at Wabi House. She was busy managing the floor, and James was a regular (often alongside his good friend, Peony). At first, Tina thought James was already taken, so their conversations stayed light and casual. Still, there was a connection and a few shy smiles along the way. Eventually, James asked for Tina’s number — with a little encouragement for her to say yes. Three days later, they went on their first date. What started as a casual afternoon plan quickly turned into a late night they didn’t want to end. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and it was clear something special was beginning. Not long after, James invited Tina to his niece’s birthday, where she met his family for the first time and felt instantly welcomed. From there, life together just fit — sushi dinners, Mavs games, late-night poker bets, and plenty of travel. They’ve shared many memorable trips with friends and family, from Cabo to cruises, but their favorite memory is traveling to New York together, just the two of them. Almost two years later, at a Christmas party Tina had thoughtfully organized, their families came together for the first time. Under the glowing tree sat a large wrapped box. When Tina opened it, a balloon shaped like a wedding ring floated out, and as she turned around, James was down on one knee. The room filled with cheers, popped champagne, and tears of joy — the perfect way to begin their forever. Now, they’re so excited to start this next chapter — and even more grateful to be sharing it with the people who mean the most to them.

Staying connected in Vietnam is easy:​1. Use an eSIM• The easiest option! Download an eSIM before you leave using apps like Airalo or Holafly, and activate it as soon as you land.• Great for instant data without swapping SIM cards.​2. Buy a Local SIM Card• If your phone is unlocked, pick one up at Da Nang International Airport right after customs.• Carriers like Viettel, Mobifone, and Vinaphone are reliable and affordable.​3. Use International Roaming• Check with your carrier before you travel. Some offer daily roaming passes, but this is usually more expensive.​4. Wi-Fi• Hotels, restaurants, and cafés almost always have free Wi-Fi, and it’s generally reliable in Da Nang and Hoi An.​Tip: We recommend an eSIM for ease or a local SIM if you’ll be in Vietnam for longer.

Helpful Travel Apps

• Vietnam’s currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND).• Credit cards are accepted at hotels and larger restaurants, but cash is preferred for taxis, markets, and smaller shops.• You can exchange money at the airport when you arrive (quick and convenient), or at banks/exchange counters in the city (sometimes slightly better rates).• ATMs are widely available in Da Nang and Hoi An.​Tip: Grab some cash at the airport for taxis, tips, and small purchases.

Currency & Payments

• Grab is the easiest way to get around Da Nang—it works just like Uber/Lyft.• Taxis are also widely available and inexpensive.• If you’re staying at the InterContinental, you’ll already be at the wedding venue, but we’ll also have shuttle info for guests staying at nearby hotels.• Hoi An is about a 45-minute drive from Da Nang if you’d like to explore before or after the wedding.

Getting Around

• Lightweight, breathable clothes (it’s warm and humid in August).• Comfortable shoes for walking on sand and cobblestones.• Bug spray &amp; sunscreen (tropical essentials!).• Adapters/Converters – Vietnam uses Type A, C, and D plugs (220V). Bring a universal adapter if needed.• A light jacket or wrap for evenings by the water.

Visiting Vietnam requires a visa, but it’s easy to get one online:​​1. Apply Online• Use the official government portal to apply: Vietnam e-Visa Portal. (linked below)​ 2. Processing Time• Most e-visas are approved within 3 business days, but we recommend applying 2–3 weeks before your trip in case additional processing time is needed.​ 3. Validity• The e-visa is valid for 30 days (single entry). Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date.​ 4. Documents Needed• A valid passport• A recent passport-style photo• A photo or scan of your passport information page• A credit or debit card for payment​ Tip: Print a copy of your e-visa approval letter and keep it with your passport to show at immigration.
